What's your eBay story? My name is Nick Vulich. Over the years I have had the opportunity to work with and talk to hundreds of eBay sellers. Some of them were brand new to eBay others have been selling for 10 years or more now. Every one of them has a unique story about how they got started selling on eBay, and about what they expect to take away from it. Many people I know embraced eBay because it gave them a real opportunity to start their own businesses with little or no risk, other than the time they invested. A lot of parents have looked at eBay as a chance to stay home with their children and be with them as they are growing up. For others, eBay has supplemented a lifetime of low wage jobs, or has given them hope after being laid off from a lifetime career in corporate America. Some have used their eBay businesses as a stepping stone to other careers. Many have become consultants or experts in the product lines that they started selling on eBay. Some have become instructors helping other people to start and operate successful online businesses. For me, eBay gave me extra money to buy new cars and a bigger house when I was working. After a corporate layoff in 2004, selling on eBay gave me the opportunity to build a strong and solid business of my own. Over the last year eBay has become my stepping stone to a new career in writing, and helping other people learn how to start selling on eBay. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Wes Miles. Selling on eBay seems simple enough. You post a few items for sale, wait for the bids to start rolling in, collect the cash, and mail out the items you sold. Rinse and repeat. Sounds easy enough, doesn't it? Unfortunately, things get a bit more complicated when you start eBaying in real life. Writing good listings that make buyers want to pull the trigger on your items isn't easy. Taking good pictures that show your items in the best light can be harder than you think. Pricing your item to sell can seem a bit like rolling the dice. And then there's the waiting. Waiting for bidders to come along. Sometimes they never materialize. Sometimes a lot of people look at what you're selling, but they don't buy. Selling on eBay can be frustrating. A lot of times you find you're second-guessing yourself. You think, Should I have said this? Or, Should I have used a different starting price? Or.... You get the idea. Selling on eBay is serious business. If you want to be successful, you need a plan going into each and every listing. You need to research every item before you list it for sale. You need to know what it costs to sell each item and how you're going to ship it. And finally, you need to understand which listing format is right for each item you list. That's what List, Sell, Profit is all about. It puts the easy back into eBay by giving you the help and advice you need to get over the speed bumps that can block your road to success. 1. Make $500 a week selling used auto parts on eBay! I'm going to tell you how I make $500 a week (usually much more) selling used auto parts on eBay. And, the great thing is that it's something anybody can do if they don't mind getting a little dirty or greasy. What I'm going to explain to you doesn't require a fancy education or previous experience selling on eBay. You don't even need to know anything about cars or car parts, really, but if you do it's a big plus that can help you make even more money. What got me started selling car parts? I had an old Mustang I always planned to restore. Then I got married. We had a kid, and the car sat there in the driveway gathering dust and complaints from the neighbors about it being an eyesore. Finally, I had enough and decided I'd try to sell it on Craigslist, but I didn't get any takers. I called the scrapyard. They offered me 100 bucks. I was pretty sure a few of the parts alone were worth more than that. Several days later, I got this crazy idea. What if I part it out on eBay? I was sure to get more than $100. Over the next three weeks, I pulled every part I could off of that car - shift knobs, shifter arm, distributor, glove box door, hood emblem, and window crank handle. You name a part, I put it up for sale, and the funny thing is - the parts sold. Someone paid me $33 for a window crank, $25 for the Mustang horse emblem, and $25 for the owner's manual. It was nuts! People emailed to ask if I had this or that part left. When I got their emails, I'd head back out to the car with my wrench and screwdriver to yank it out for them. I'd come back in the house and list the part on eBay for the agreed upon price. After three weeks, I'd sold close to $700 in parts from a car the junkyard offered a 100 bucks for. All I could think was, "I need another car." 1. Language: English. Narrator: Joe Pocian. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/acx0/039152/bk_acx0_039152_sample.mp3. Digital audiobook in aax.
